Introducing Cleaner, Safer Video URLs

We're always working under the hood to make the PornMixer experience smoother and more professional. Today, we're rolling out a subtle but impactful change to how our video URLs look and work.
Say goodbye to long, messy links full of random characters, and hello to cleaner, more readable URLs using Slugs and ShortUIDs.

The Old vs. The New

Previously, when you watched or shared a video, the URL looked something like this:
https://pornmixer.org/watch?v=550e8400-e29b-41d4-a716-446655440000
It worked, but it wasn't pretty. It was long, hard to read, and could easily break if copied incorrectly.
Now, our new URLs look like this:
https://pornmixer.org/watch/clean-video-title/mge0zjk5yte-njfhzc0xmw
This new format is split into two key parts: the Slug and the ShortUID.

Part 1: The "Slug"

The "slug" is the readable text in the URL that describes the video title (e.g., /clean-video-title/).

• It’s Readable: You know exactly what you're clicking on before the page even loads.
• Enhanced Safety & Trust: Transparency is key to safety. When a URL clearly describes its destination, you can click with confidence.
• Better Discoverability: Search engines love descriptive URLs. Having keywords from the title directly in the link helps Google and other search engines understand the content, helping your (favorite) videos appear in relevant searches.

Part 2: The "ShortUID"

The second part of the URL is the Short Unique Identifier (e.g., /mge0zjk5yte-njfhzc0xmw). This is a concise, unique code that serves as the permanent ID for that specific video.

• Under the Hood: For the tech-savvy, this is simply the Base64 encoded version of our original UUIDs. We’ve taken the standard 36-character ID and packed it into a tighter, URL-safe format.
• Significantly Shorter Embeds: While the main watch URL includes the title for clarity, our embed codes use only this ShortUID. This makes embed links much shorter and less prone to breaking when pasted into forums or messy HTML.
• Visual Simplicity: It simply looks more professional. Replacing a long string of seemingly random characters with a compact code removes visual clutter from the address bar.

Don't Worry, Old Links Still Work!

We know there are thousands of old-style PornMixer links out there on the web. Don't panic! We've set up automatic redirects. If you click an old ?v=UUID link, our system will instantly and seamlessly redirect you to the new, clean Slug/ShortUID version. Your bookmarks and old shares are safe. This update is just another small step in our ongoing mission to build the most user-friendly adult platform from the ground up. Read more about our development philosophy in our launch post.
